今年の夏、北海道一人旅を計画する際に購入。
“北海道を列車でのんびり旅をしてみたい”と思っていた自分には
うってつけの一冊。

鉄道好きのライター兼フォトグラファー・矢野直美さんの文章と写真が素晴らしく、
北海道を訪ねたくなります。
北海道のローカル沿線の風景の美しさや人々の温かさが伝わってきます。
また、東京・大阪⇔北海道間のブルートレインの乗車レポートもあり、
北海道を列車で旅したい人の参考書として便利です。

四季折々に取材されているので、
どの季節の北海道旅行を計画されている方にも参考になると思います。

旅行の計画がなくても、写真エッセイ本として
風景に癒されながら満足の行く内容です。

残念なのは、列車の路線図・時刻表・運行情報・駅や周辺地などの
情報が掲載されていないため
具体的な計画のためには別途時刻表やガイドブックが必須です。
簡単でもいいので付録がついていたり
あるいはオススメの時刻表やガイドブック、ホームページの案内があれば
より便利に使えるのではないかと思いました。

5.0 out of 5 stars 乗って、撮って、食べて、笑って(^_^), 2008/7/22
道内のとある駅前の書店で、真っ青な空と海があざやかな表紙に目がとまり、
手に取ろうとしていると、横にいたおばさんが「のんびり旅か〜いいねえ〜」と
笑って話しかけてきたという、ウソのような本当の話。
　
鉄道旅がいいのは、いろんな人と出会えて、話できることだと思う。
それと、きれいな景色をゆっくりと楽しめること、かな。
この本には、色彩豊かな景色や、途中で出会ったすてきな人たちが一杯つまっています。
でも、矢野さんだから、みんな最高の笑顔で接してくれたんじゃないかな。
矢野さんの飾り気のないところが、ファインダーを通して、
乗客たちのベストの写真となって現れています。
とくに女性の写真が自然でいい表情で、うらやましい。
　
文章も鉄道旅らしく“コトコト”という感じ。
クスッと笑ったり、時にはオイオイと突っ込んだり。肩の力を抜いて読めます。

矢野さんのような人と結婚して、二人で鉄道旅できたら、本当に楽しいでしょうね。
