ト。「旅とモノ」をテーマに2002年の春に結成。旅先で受けたインスピレーショ
ンをもとに雑貨やハンドメイドブックの制作などの活動をしている。著者に
「clip trip」「なごやのパン屋さん」(共にmille books)がある。

ピエブックスの本は、装丁から凝っていて、毎回うなります。ざらついた紙と、手作り感のあるイラスト。知られざる国々であるバルト３国。リネン好きなら、質のいいフラックス産地であるリトアニアはご存じでしょう。北欧デザインのリネンが、人件費の安いこの３国で縫製されているのも事実。

実際に旅をして、出会った街の風景、人、工房、蚤の市・・心くすぐられる雑貨たち。旧ソ連であったため、東欧の香りがする。しかし、かの国は早い段階からドイツ騎士団の侵攻・ハンザ同盟支配など、西からの影響も顕著であったため、北欧やドイツの香りもするのである。エストニアはフィンランドと民族的に近い。リトアニアは、長い間ポーランドと同君連合だった。

感心するのは、見事な手仕事の数々である。特有の刺繍、白樺細工、柳バスケットはそれは見事。一つ一つは小さな国でも、地方ごとに違う美しい民族衣装。独立してからこの国々は、地方ごとの民族衣装を、ずっと記念切手の題材として発行し続けた。エストニアであること、ラトヴィアであること、リトアニアであること。雑貨から眺める三カ国の歴史は、抑圧の過去を持ちながら、それでも美しく、すがすがしい。

バルト３国のリトアニア・エストニア・ラトビアの雑貨や街並みの写真がコラージュされてる本です。
布や木など手作りの雑貨や生活用品などがいっぱい!!

旅行雑誌では表現が難しい素朴なあたたかさ、ふんわりとした空気が伝わってきます。
本当の街の雰囲気があちこちに。
また、出かけて行きたくなっちゃった本。

ぜひ、バルト３国の雰囲気を味わってくださいね
