挿絵が本当に美しく、この本から何枚もポストカードになっている程です。
兄姉妹の３人兄妹が、１２か月の美しい自然の中で過ごす様子が
詩とともに綴られています。
詩はリズムがあるので、子どもに読んであげることも出来ますが、
飽きちゃいそうなときは適当な段落で次へ飛ばしちゃうといいのでは！
うちの子は、内容とはあまり関係なく、この月は誰それの誕生日！と無邪気に喜んでいましたが・・・
見開きで、左側にその月の詩と行事の解説が書いてあり、
右側の頁の挿絵は、どの月もため息が出るほど素敵。
子どものためというより、自分のために買いました。これはもう、ママの宝物！

スウェーデンの絵本作家ベスコフによる、自然の美しさが、やさしい詩と絵で綴られています。子どもの何とも言えない愛らしさに、また、自然の中に溶け込んでその月々を楽しんでいる姿に、慌ただしい日常を忘れさせてくれる魔法を感じます。つい抱きしめたくなるような、そんな一冊。ほわーんと温かくなりたい大人の方へお薦めです。声に出して朗読すれば、自分の心が癒されていく気がします。

スウェーデンの1月から12月をうっとりするようなべスコフワールドでお目にかけます。
初出がなんと1927年です。よく見るとお母さんもロングスカートではなくハイカラな装いですね。
個人的には12月の最後の絵が、べスコフ作品のイラストの中で一番好きです。
この本は、自動車メーカーVOLVO社のカレンダーにも使用されたことがあるそうですよ。
