この作家さんの2002年に完結したサウザンド・メイジシリーズ(全３巻)がとても好きだったので、著者名だけで飛びつきましたが色々と良い作品でした。
ずいぶん久しぶりに名前を見たと思ったら、調べてみればいろいろ書かれていたのですね(汗)

本書は雑誌掲載が先だったようで、描き下ろし３章を加えた、全５章＋終章構成になっています。
物語は、主人公「コゼット・パースン」の一人称視点による語りで進みます。
また、キャラの名前や言葉にこだわりがあったり、相変わらずキャラに宝石の名前を付けるなど、以前のシリーズを知った上で読むと感慨深いものがありました。

キャラクターはメイン３人で、コゼットは頭が良いけど知恵が無い、草食系眼鏡女子。無個性のような地味のような実はお嬢様育ち(？)。ドラグーン貨物の司令官(コマンデンタ)。
イタチ族の「エリザベス・ブレイズ」。徹底したネコ族嫌いで、喧嘩っ早く、ドラグーン貨物の警備の銃使い。
東方出身の「ファン・アイリン」。一見お人形のようにおとなしく見えて守銭奴で毒舌な、ドラグーン貨物の竜騎手。
ハートフルコメディと名打っていますが、なかなか過激な作品のような気もします。
１章ごとに起承転結があるので非常に読みやすくはあります。しかしながら、次の章で急に時間が経っていたりするなど、違和感を覚えるところもあります。
個人的には、続刊を希望しているので、ぜひ頑張ってもらいたいです。
