この本は、亡命したあとのトラップファミリーの物語です。
映画でしか情報を得ていなかったわたしには、驚かされる出来事ばかりでした。マリアの波乱万丈な人生を、それでも何故かさわやかに感じでしまうのは、きっと歌がいつも傍にあった生活だったからでしょう。
現代では考えられないような家族の絆、それがとても伝わってくる作品です。

波乱万丈のトラップ一家の人々に引き込まれて、一気に読んでしまいました。善きキリスト教徒として弱音を吐かず、努力を惜しまないマリアたちの生き方はとてもさわやかで、「私ももうちょっと頑張らにゃ！」と思いました。苦労を苦労と思っていないマリアの楽天家ぶり、前向きさがおもしろいですよ。

一巻の激動編に続いて話。アメリカに行ってからの話は苦労も多く、読んでてリアルだな、漫画のようにはいかないよな。と思いました。でも前向きなマリアの様子にとても励まされます。一人の生きる姿勢として素敵な本だと思いました。
