DVDプレイヤーを持っている方で生きた英語のヒアリングを楽しく
強化したい方には最適な教材です。
この映画は音楽教師の半生を描いたもので、教育とは、人生とは
家庭とはを考え、生きることの価値を問うています。
映画の内容自体が奥が深く、何度見ても感動するため、
反復練習する英語教材として最適と考えます。

DVDですので、字幕のON/OFFを切り替えたり、再生速度を
変更したりできて、とてもヒアリング力がつきます。

私が数々の英語教材にチャレンジして行き着いた最高教材です。

音楽関連の映画は数え切れないほど見たが、この作品はその中でも「自分の好きな映画ランキング」の上位に入るだろう。
音楽教師のホランド（リチャード・ドレイファス）は教育における音楽の重要性を説くが、なかなか思い通りにはならない。そんな中、生まれたばかりの息子に聴力の障害があることに気づく。言葉の通じない息子に対し苦悩の日々が続くが、手話によって、そして音楽によって次第に親子の絆は深まっていく。ホランドが息子コールに手話を交えてジョン・レノンの『ビューティフル・ボーイ』を歌うシーンが涙を誘う。個人的にジョン・レノンは好きではないが、この曲だけは本当にいいと思う。
どんな状況でも、人を愛することはできるということを学んだ作品だ。ラストの『アメリカン・シンフォニー』で幕を閉じる流れもいい。

最後の場面、ホランド先生の人生が何であったのかを知り、
感動のあまり涙しました。

法廷劇のように難しい言語も少なく、学習教材としてはもってこいです。
他でDVD版を入手することが困難なこともあり、この価格は高くないです。
