   「くまのがっこう」に通う、12ひきのこぐまたちは、山の上の寄宿舎暮らし。11ぴきは男の子で、いちばんおチビさんのジャッキーは「おかあさんがわり（のつもり）」の女の子。夜になり「みんなで　おやすみ」のはずが、ひとり、またひとりと泣き出してしまい…。

   仲良く並んだ12ひきは、よく見ると顔が長い子、丸い子、とんがり耳の子もいて個性たっぷり。とはいえジャッキーとウーリー、ディッキー以外のくまの名前は「また　こんど」と教えてくれないのが、なんだかおかしい。

   前半、見開きで紹介される学校の様子には、たくさんの小道具と授業中のみんなの様子が、やさしい色合いでページいっぱいに描かれている。「たいそう」の時間に使うのは、くまの形のラケット、耳つきの水泳帽。「きゅうしょく」準備中のキッチンには、緑色のおまめのスープ、もくもくのマッシュポテト、机の下ではジャッキーが、ハチミツをぺろり。小さなお楽しみがあちこちに隠されていて、読むごとに新しい発見がある。（門倉紫麻）

12ひきのくまのこたちの１日のお話です。11人のお兄ちゃんと、末っ子のおませな女の子ジャッキー。一人一人のキャラクターが、とてもかわいく描かれています。ちなみに12ひきの名前は、テディベアの故郷のドイツ語の名前だそうです。水彩タッチの絵がとても好きです。お洋服や、持っている小物も素敵です。内容・・・よりかは、絵がとにかく好きな一冊です。

“熊”が出てくるおはなしといえば、『くまのプーさん』、『よるくま』、『くまの子ウーフ』……。シュタイフ社のテディが生まれて１００年目の今年、ちいさなくまのこたちの絵本がまたひとつ誕生しました。『くまのがっこう』は、山の上の寄宿舎で暮らす１２匹のくまの子たちのお話です。末っ子のジャッキーは、いちばんのいたずらで、いちばんのきかんぼう。だけど１１人のお兄さんたちの“お母さん代わり”になろうと頑張るかわいい女の子です。ある晩、泣き虫のペーターが、お母さんが恋しくて泣き出してしまうと、ほかのお兄さんたちもどんどん泣き出してしまいます。慰めてまわるジャッキーでしたが……。　この絵本を読んで『マドレーヌシリーズ』を連想してしまうのは私だけかな？

月齢のせいかまだまだ本を大切に扱うことができないので普段はボードブックを与えているのですが、親がイラストを気に入りくまのがっこうをあたえてみました。するといままではストーリーのあるものをじっくり聞き入ることはなかったのですがこの本だけは一生懸命聞くようになりました。

普段の本は繰り返しの言葉が何度も入っている絵本だったりするのですが、このくまのがっこうには娘をひきつける何かがあるようです。とってもおすすめです。
