日本史など歴史を勉強する時には「流れ」が重要です。 この本は、ともすると細かい知識にとらわれて見逃しがちな歴史の大きな流れを把握するように導いてくれます。日本史を初めて勉強する人には概要を掴むのに適していると思います。

また、読み物としても十分面白いと思います。

児玉源太郎や秋山真之、石原莞爾など教科書では必ずしも大きく取り上げられることがないけれど重要な人物に焦点を当てて、歴史に興味を持たせるように書かれています。

大学受験を控えた受験生にオススメです。
公務員試験を受ける受験生にオススメです。
教養を高めたい社会人にオススメです。

竹内先生の数ある著作の中でも私は近現代史の流れ
が一番大好きです。
日本の歴史に登場する熱い人物建を竹内先生が
最高に熱い形で語ります。

時代は明治時代から終戦後まで。
歴史の中で色々な人が悩み決断をして
今の日本があるとわかります。
日本の歴史を作った男たちのロマンがここにあります。

私は大学受験と公務員試験のときにお世話になりました。
そして、今でも自信を持って友人に勧められる一冊です。

みなさんもこの本を読んで歴史の裏話を知ると共に
自分も日本の歴史をつくる一人になれるかもしれない
と考えるとわくわくしますよ。

5.0 out of 5 stars 一気に通史、見えてきた全貌。, 2003/4/27
二時間ほどで一気に読めるようになっています。
授業の予習に威力を発揮しました。というのははじめて読むには分かりにくい教科書とは違い、読みやすいからです。
そして受験に必要な内容に徹していて不要なことは一切かかれていないので日本史に時間をかけられない人にはいいかもしれません。
