マ-シャ・ブラウンは絵本の世界では有名な人。この本の原題「Stone Soup（石のスープ）」を題材にした他の作者の絵本もたくさんあるとか。腹ぺこの３人の兵士が、辿り着いた村で食物と寝床を乞うが、村びとは応じない。そこで兵士は機転をきかせて「石のスープ」を作ろうという。どこか中世的な感じの絵。こなれた日本語訳。兵士たちの最後の一言は笑わせる。村人たちのダンスシーンもいい。図書館で借りて読めるが、書店では手に入らない。ぜひ復刻すべき名作。

絵本と言うのは如何に分かりやすく内容を伝える必要がある。こうした絵本は主に小学生までの子供達をターゲットにしているが、本の内容は大人自身も一度読んでみる価値は有る本なのかも知れない。頭を使う事によって、自分1人では決して成しえる事が出来ないであろう事をいとも簡単に人々のやる気に火をつけることによってそれを実行してしてしまう。今の世の中はこうした考え方で短期間に夢を実現できる世界なのかもしれないと気づかせてくれる一冊である。復刻して欲しいな。

ケチな村人たちに次々食糧を持ってこさせ、最後には満足させてしまう、賢い兵隊たちのお話。「石のスープ」聞いてる子どもたちも読んでる私も食べたくなりました。
子どもから大人まで楽しめる絵本です。
