　平凡な人生とは、時代に身を任せ、「諦め」ながら生きることかもしれません。今時、賃金が下がってもしかたがないか？。「頼みの」労働組合も「頑張った」けれどだめだったからしかたがないか？。しかし、悔し涙の中から、諦めない４人の女性が、一審の地裁で敗訴したものの、高裁で勝利和解するまでのたたかいを記録したのが、この本です。
　９条改憲が問題になっていますが、改憲に反対するだけでなく、現在の憲法を「いかす努力」も必要なこと、諦めないことの大事さを教えてくれる１冊です。
