トゥートとパドルは、自分のやりたい事がまったく違うのに、とても仲良しの仔豚。
ある日一人で旅行に出かけたトゥート。家で身近な生活を楽しむことにしたパドル。
トゥートは旅で行く先々から毎月パドルへハガキを送り、パドルはそれに応える形でパドルを思います。
二人が二人らしく、それぞれの好きなことをしながら、それでいて相手のことを大事に思う…。

せわしい現代社会の中で、いつも大事な人と顔を合わせているわけにもいかない私たちに、
この絵本は「どうすれば、離れていても良い関係を続けていくことができるか」という難題へのヒントを与えてくれています。

　小学校の低学年向の世界旅行記として、おもしろく読みました。旅行記としては、フェリックスの手紙―小さなウサギの世界旅行シリーズと対比してみるとより興味深く読めます。フェリックスシリーズは、漢字にふりがながなく親が読んであげる必要がありますが、こちらならこどもが一人で読んでも十分内容が理解できます。
