DVD関連の仕事をしていますがDVDメディアの種類が多く、DVD業界の人間でさえ良くその違いが分からない人がほとんどです。私も色々、書店で参考資料を探しましたがあまりにも専門的過ぎる本、ソフト的な説明だけの本はありましたがあまり各DVDの違いが良く理解できませんでした。しかしこの本を書店で偶然、見つけて内容を確認して『これだ！』と思い即、購入しました

この本は一般の方にも分かるように図、写真、漫画を入れて説明しているのでとても参考になりました。

ディーアートの「記録型 DVD 規格ハンドブック」と共に購入した。そちらが書名とは裏腹に著者の体験の集大成である印象に比べると、本書は技術的な考証にかなり信頼の置ける良書である。一度読み通して、自分の理解に不十分な点があるので、もう一度通して読み直し、理解を整理したいところである。

惜しむらくは、説明内容が若干浅いところだ。8/16変調テーブルにこんなページを割くくらいならば、物理データフォーマット（セクタ構成やリードインのフォーマット）や、データのオーバーライトの技術、追記時のアドレシング（論理位置決め）の扱いなど、もう少し技術的に濃い内容を載せて欲しかった。個人が規格書を入手するのが困難であることを考えると、そのような情報を切望している読者（マニア?）は多いはずだ。

タイトルに「学びなおす」と書いてるが
初めて知ろうとしようとした自分のようなのにも
わかりやすかった。
違う規格がある、メーカーによって規格が違う
くらいの認識は一般的にもあるかもしれないが、どこが違うのか
なぜ違う規格があるのかとか、MPEGとAVIの違いも
書いてあったり、あまり固い本でもなく読みやすかった
