ここを見ているという事は、多少なりともターシャ・テューダーに興味を持っている方で、彼女の描く絵はすばらしい事は説明するまでもないですよね。

最近話題になっている事もあり、彼女の生活や生き方・感じ方が綴られた本も書店で平積みになり、もはや絵本作家の枠を超えていますよね。
そんな中でこの本はエッセイやライフスタイル本と、子供向けの絵本の中間的存在と感じました。

文は詩人などの有名な言葉で構成されています。すぐ覚えられそうなほんの１~２行の短い言葉ですが、心の奥に沁みるような美しく深く、そして厳しい言葉です。
そんな言葉に合うターシャの温かみのある素敵な絵が大きなページに描かれています。

ジャンルは絵本だと思いますが、ちいさな子供が読むには表現が抽象的過ぎるような気がします。言葉の重みを考えると思春期や大人の方が感銘を受けるのではないでしょうか。

人間関係がうまくいかない、なんとなく毎日がつまらない、そんな人にこそお薦めしたい本です。休日に自分一人のため紅茶を入れてこの本をぼーっとながめるような、少し贅沢な時間を過してほしいと思います。

　ある種のターシャ本はかなり読んだが
そのひとつひとつにこころがときめく。
わたしたちとは遠い存在であるからこそ
その絵や詩や言葉がしみこんでくる。
　日本にもあやしげな本は数あるが、ターシヤは
俗なところがない。
　うらやましくもあり、言葉で傷つく時代にあって
言葉が癒すという本当の真実をTVなどにでてくる人達
とはちがって、言葉はこころを磨くものなのかと感心してしまう。

　ぜひ、読んでみてほしい。

前のレビューに書いている方がいらっしゃいますが、私も、原文と日本語訳の両方載せて頂きたかったと思います。英語版も持っていますが、声に出して読んだ時、やはり原文のほうがきれいなのです。絵にも合っていると思います。
ただ、英語が苦手な私には、日本語版も必要なので、星は4つにしました。
