　癒し系大人のファンタジー小説。イギリスの農村を舞台に、心に問題を抱える大人たちが、子供たちの活躍によって再び家族の絆を取り戻す物語は、読後優しく暖かな気持ちに包まれました。不妊治療の末授かった愛娘リリーに対する母親シャーロットの過保護で神経質な言動は、姉の子供たちの生き生きした表情に比べ、見ていてつらいものがありますが、娘の失踪事件を通じて、姉や不倫している夫との和解につながる心情描写に共感できるものがありました。著者近影は美人です。

童話の世界を信じる想像力豊かな子ども、理性に頼る大人、両者の視点から楽しめる物語。
現実とファンタジーが交錯しつつも、きれいにまとまっている。読後、心はほんわか温まり、忘れかけていた子どものころを思い起こせそう。
英文は易しく、リズム感があって耳に心地よい。パステルカラーの絵画を見ているよう。構成も紙芝居のように短いので読みやすい。
