流れるような本文(約３０００語)とつぼを押さえた説明がすばらしい。
説明は、本文に基づく背景情報を元に行われるので、表現の微妙なニュアンスが、よくわかる。
スーザン編では時制の変化によるニュアンスの表現等の説明がいい。文章は簡単だが発想が受験英語等と全く違うので、流れに乗れるまでは少し時間がかかったが、その後は読むのが実に快適。今６回目の音読中。多読や、暗唱、音読に疲れた時に読んだので、良いリフレッシュと盲点の把握になった。最後に、留意点は以下の通り。題名から海外旅行英会話集のように感じるが、そうではない。すべての文法事項や、構文を網羅しているわけではない。しかし２冊とも読むと時制や助動詞の盲点はだいたいつかめる。CD等はないが、この値段なら十分。リスニング用の教材はそれ専用を使うと良い。
私は、もう１回読んだら気に入った表現をピックアップして暗記しようと思っている。
この筆者がもっと本を出してくれないかな？

「エリック編」と合わせて買った。「海外旅行編」でも実際の場面がいきいきと描写されていて、言葉ってつくづく生き物なんだなぁと感じた。安心できるのは、著者が、英語を話す日本人の気持ちや弱点を知りつくしていることだ。英会話のちょっとしたニュアンスの違いがクリアーになり、すごーく気持ちがいい。こんな先生に最初の英語を習いたかった！挿し絵もとてもイカシテいる。
