おそらく和製の関連書籍｢完全自殺マニュアル｣と比較されることが多いと思われる。しかしこの本は自殺のハウツー本ではなく自殺全般に関する情報を詰め込んだ雑学本。｢完全自殺マニュアル｣を非難するような文面も取れるがそもそもコンセプトが違う。
写真や事例からリアルな自殺(凄惨な現実)を垣間見る事が出来る。自殺の大半は衝動的なものである、という文面がやたら多い。 等々、結局この本は自殺という行為を否定している構成になっている。それさえ気にならなければ情報量も多いので雑学本としては悪くない。

既存の自殺マニュアル本は、情報がかなり古くなっていて、もう発売されてない薬とか、もう存在しない薬が載っている。
色々な業界からも圧力がかかっていて、もう新しい自殺マニュアル本は出ないのかと思っていた。
この本は比較的新しい自殺マニュアル本であると同時に非常に詳しい。

色々な自殺方法の致死率（成功率）や失敗した時の後遺症の度合いまで事細かく随所に配慮されている。
最初、著者スーサイドラボというのを見て、外国の翻訳本じゃ使えないなと思ったけど、全然そうじゃなかった。買って良かった。
色々買ったが、この本が自殺マニュアル本で一番参考になった。

自殺を考える人にとってはいい本だと思う。

というのは、自殺したあとの写真が載っているから。
正直、目を被いたくなるような写真もあるけど、
それがかえって自殺するのを阻止することが出来る
ような感じがする。

「完全自殺マニュアル」も自殺抑止の効果があると
思ったけど、この本はそれより上回るものだと思います。

なかなかよかったと思います。
皆読むべきです！これで自殺志願者の気持ちが少しは理解できると思います！道徳の教科書に入れたほうがいいとおもいます。

自殺に関する考察や自殺を科学するなどの後半は　面白かったけれど...どうしてこんな醜悪な死の写真を載せなければいけないのかな。
