5.0 out of 5 stars この本片手に関西建築巡りへ, 2000/11/27
建築は、絵画や彫刻と違って、その場に行かなければ体験することができない。ある建物がどのような環境に立っているか、内部の印象はどうか、自分で歩きながらひとつひとつ確かめる。そこにこそ建築の面白さがあるだろう。

大阪・神戸は、近現代の面白い建築が多数残っている土地だ。ただ街を歩くだけでもさまざまな発見があるが、本書のようなガイドに目を通してから訪れればいっそう理解が深まる。地図は見やすく、目指す作品を容易に見つけることができる。

もちろん、本書発行後に取り壊されたり、形を変えてしまった建物もある。それはそれで考えさせられるものがあるだろう。そして、このガイドに載っていない新たな建築が日々生み出されており、それらを自分で地図上に付け加えていくのも楽しみの!ひとつだ。

自分の町に住んでいても、自分が普段通る道の建物しか気にしていないが、この本により自分の通り道のちょっと入った小道に良い建物が存在するものである。そのようなことを感じさせてくれる良質の本である。大都会だけでなく郊外にも目を向けており、的確な描写の文と写真が目を楽しませてくれる。建築は専門外の私ですが、最後まで新しい発見に満ちた、純粋に楽しませてくれる本でした。

グルメやファッションをテーマにした地図って世の中にあふれかえっている。建築をテーマにした本は専門書として扱われることが多いが、この本はまるで旅行案内のようなポップさと建築専門書を融合させた内容の濃い本となっている。自分の街に新たな驚きと発見が見出せるのならこんなに幸せなことはない。
