日本語・英語のバイリンガル教育のハウツーを期待して購入しましたが、マリ子ちゃんの成長＆仕事の記録と著書自身の体験談が多く、期待外れでした。

著書である高橋マリ子のお母さん＝文子さんは、英語の先生のご経験や、英語学習法の著作もお持ちなので、家庭でのバイリンガルの指導法などを期待したわけです。

しかし実際は著者の言う通り、「自然に無理なくバイリンガルになった」とのこと。
「夏休みは必ずアメリカ人の祖父母夫妻とすごす」習慣や、ご主人＝マリ子ちゃんのお父さんが見せたという英語の子供向けビデオのリストなどは、日本でお子さんにバイリンガル教育をしたい方には参考になると思います。
逆に私のような海外在住者の子供の教育には向きませんけど。。。

マリ子ちゃんの子供時代やそのご家族のことを知りたいファンには、秘蔵（？）写真つきで文章も読みやすく楽しめる本です。
