その根本原因としては、現代人が人間の本質を胸・腹（情意）ではなく、頭（知）に置いてしまっていることが挙げられるだろう

本書はこういった現代人の病巣を鋭く抉り出し、どう生きていけばよいのかを直接的・間接的に教えてくれる

昨今は利を貪る輩がもてはやされる傾向にあり、たいへん危険な兆候にあったように思うが、こういった書が世に出され、そして多くの正しい眼を持った人たちに読まれる限り、日本もまだまだ捨てたものではないようにも若輩ながら思う次第である

ただ知識・見識・胆識とあり、胆識に重きをおく限りにおいては読んだだけでは一知半解なのは至極当然で、私も日々自分の思考と行動に結びつけ、この書を真の実学、活学として生かしていきたいと思っている
そしてこれから読まれる方にも是非そうしていただきたい

福澤諭吉翁が「日々の教え」にて書いた”腹に収めて忘るべからず”の一語にふさわしい一言一句が珠玉の名言ばかりのまさしく真の名著といえる内容であり、より多くの方が読まれることを切に願っている

よくある１日１言形式だが、とても良くできている。平均的に１ページに２つの話があり、時間のない忙しいときにも、１言分は読むことが出来る大変有り難い書。１つ１つの分量は多くないが、１言１言がとても重い。真に生きるとはどうあるべきか、と言うことを考えさせられ、読むたびに身が引き締まる思いがする。また、東洋思想の奥の深さを思い知らされた。日々の自分の行動の振り返りにも、是非使いたい本。

　気持ちがなっていない私は、愚痴を言っている自分がいやになるときがあります。それだけ、自分の行いのいたらなさを、他のせいにしているのでしょう。
　このほんの一節に「本当の自分を知り、本当の自分をつくれる人であって、初めて人を知ることができる、人をつくることができる。」とあります。「教育は人づくり」などと口では言ってみても、まず自分づくりをしっかりすることが大前提なのだと気付かされました。
　また、安岡先生の他の著作も読んでみたいと思うようになりました。
