本書はタイトルの通り著者の修身の授業の講義録を2回分まとめたものである。講義ごとに独立した内容のため、タイトルの気になった章から読んでも面白いと思う。昭和初期の内容だが、現代でもほとんど色あせていない。特に私は下座行（「げざぎょう」と読むらしい。自分の実力よりも低い立場に甘んじながらも不平不満をいわずまじめに仕事に励むことが人間的鍛錬に通じるとのこと）の講話では、つい仕事がつまらないと思う度に態度に出やすい自分の未熟さと傲慢さが痛切に反省させられた。本書を通じて教育者たるものの情熱が熱く解かれているが、教職についていなくても、一定の年齢を過ぎると我々はある意味で皆（子や後輩の）教育者なのだと思えばすんなり受け入れることができるはず。定期的に開きたいと思える本がまた一つ増えた。

　もし、教育に携わる人に、本を一冊薦めるとしたら、迷わずこの終身教授録をすすめます。不勉強甚だしい私は、４１歳でこの本に巡り会うことができました。今までの教職生活を振り返り、赤面汗顔致しました。また、「人生二度無し」ということに気づかされ、生き方を変えようと決意しました。
　辛いとき、迷ったときにはいつでも読み返せるよう、手元においています。まさに、座右の書にふさわしい書物だと思います。
　もし、このつたないレビューをお読みの方がいましたなら、是非「終身教授録」ご一読されることを、強く強くお薦めいたします。

これほどまでに熱く心に突き刺さる名著はない。
人生の意味、学ぶことの意義、実践への意識を導いてくれるすばらしい本。
私がこの本に出会ったのは、半年前だが、人生の一道を見出した気がする。
良書は数多いが、これほどまで平明で心にまで伝わる本に私は始めてであった気がする。
