　価格ほどの価値はないにしても、あまりにもひどいというほどではないんです。
　読めば一つ二つの発見くらいはあるでしょう。
　ただ、著者が仏教についても他の宗教についても、また哲学・思想についても、あまり深く理解していないので、非常に浅はかな解説と議論になっているのは否めません。
　また、論拠の出典を正確に示しておらず、ひどい時はうろ覚えで書いているので、著作全体の信頼度は非常に低いと言わざるをえません。
　「入門書などしょせんその程度のもの」と言われるかもしれませんが、本来入門書とは、その対象を深く理解している人がそれを踏まえて初学者向けに書き直すものであり、本書のように、表面的な理解しかできない人が表面的なことを記述するのは、確かにありがちなことではありますが、良い入門書とは呼べないと思われます。

いわゆる仏教という既成概念に一石を投じるためにインパクト有る本だとは思う。しかしその内容に人に嫌悪感を与えるような表現が度々あったり、個人的な話を回りくどく脈絡なしに述べたりしているところは好きになれない。著者は仏教のことを分かったように言っているが、そんな点も含めて理解しているのか疑問に感ずる。この内容でこの値段はちょっと高い。

数年前から仏教に関していろいろ読むようになり、お釈迦様について知れば知る程、目からウロコというか、自分の仏教に関する知識がいいかげんだったと思いました。そして、日本の宗派仏教に対して懐疑的になりました。私が日本の仏教に対して疑問に思っていた点がいくつもここで指摘されていて、よく言ってくれたなと思いました。
その後日本の宗派仏教にもそれなりの価値というか部分的に認められる点もあると思うようになりましたが、私は宗派仏教ではなく、お釈迦様その人について行こうと思っています。
