ジョビンの妹が書いた自伝は確かに読みごたえあるけど、ちょっと長すぎるし、ディスクガイド的には読みずらかったけど、この本は値段も手頃で、脚注もページごとにあるので読みやすいから、ボサノヴァのことを深く知らない人でも読めますね。ボサノヴァをこれから聴き始める人は絶対ジョビンを知るべき。。それには最適の1冊です。

1960年代の音楽シーンを代表する音楽ジャンルが「ボサノヴァ」でした。
この本は、その「ボサノヴァ」の歴史と様々なエピソードが満載のボサノヴァ辞典とも言うべき本です。
有名な「イパネマの娘」を作曲したアントニオ・カルロス・ジョビン・ブックという副題がついています。彼の伝記としても、とても詳細なものになっています。

アストラッド・ジルベルトの歌う「イパネマの娘」の歌声はとても雰囲気がありましたね。 世界的な「ボサノヴァ」ブームは、この曲の大ヒットからスタートしました。収録にあたってジョアン・ジルベルトのポルトガル語がカットされたエピソードは興味深いものがありました。

女性ヴォーカル･グループのクァルテート・エン・シーの「おいしい水」や、スタン・ゲッツが演奏した「コルコヴァード」の解説も詳しくとても良く理解できました。

アントニオ・カルロス・ジョビンはすでに亡くなりましたが、「ボサノヴァの神様」と呼ばれたジョアン・ジルベルトは、70歳を越えてまだ健在でなによりです。

巻末のアルバム名の索引もとても丁寧に作られています。この本を読んでから聴きなれた「ボサノヴァ」の名曲の数々を聴きなおしてみると、また違った景色が見えてきそうです。
