　さきの戦争が終わって60年という月日が経過した。
今が<戦後>であるのか、<戦前>であるのか。<戦中>であるのか――。

　僕が生まれたのが第二次世界大戦が終わって9年目の春だった。そしてそれは1950年に始まった朝鮮戦争の休戦(1953年)の一年後だった。その後も、敗戦国・日本にある米軍基地から飛び立つ戦闘機の爆音を聞きながら少年時代をすごし、高校・大学時代ーベトナム戦争を身近に感じて青春時代を過ぎてきました。

　そして今、あらためて戦争ということを考えてみたいと思っています。
その上で、この『戦争と文学ーいま小林多喜二を読む』(本の泉社)は刺激的な著書だと思えます。
　
誤解を恐れずいえば、反戦作家・プロレタリア作家・革命作家と呼ばれる小林多喜二(1903-1933)も、出発点においては私と同じ普通の人間であることを第1章「若き多喜二の彷徨」は明らかにしてくれているからです。違いは、その後にあるのでしょう。<戦後60年>のいま、戦争の悲惨さを描くことだけなら、だれにでも語れることだと思う、肝心なのはどこから戦争が作られているのか、それを阻む力はどこにあるのか。

　このことを伊豆利彦さんが、小林多喜二を読むことを通じて語りかけてくれています。また、志賀直哉と小林多喜二との文学的交流とその意味をたどった第三章は、それぞれの魅力を浮き彫りにしてくれて、「灰色の月」や「小僧の神様」の背景にはそんなことがあったのかと思いました。

まじめぇな本ってぇ　手がでないけどぅ
こんな本もよまなきゃ　いけなんいですぅ。
