解説に「盛り上げるところは盛り上げて、泣かせどころもあって、現代恋愛小説がお好きな方におすすめ」と書いてあり、この本を解りやすくまとめた一言であると思う。

野沢氏の小説は好きで殆ど読んでいるが、この本だけは購入するのを何度かためらった。
まず、野沢氏と恋愛小説というのがなんとなく結びつかなかった。
ベテランの脚本家なので、その辺の分野は得意であろうし、同氏の「恋人よ」は素晴らしい小説だし、好きである。
でも何故だか気が進まなかったのは、題名がベタだったからであろうか・・・
が、読み始めてみたら、予想外に面白かった。いや、この場合面白いと言う言葉は適切ではないかもしれないが、またしても野沢氏にやられたという感じであった。
彼の小説を読み終わったあとには毎回そう思うのだが、日常にある忘れかけていたり、照れなどでつい隠してしまう思いを、心にストレートにぶつけてくる。だから、この人の書く小説が好きなのだ。

恋愛に不器用な二人が愛しているからこそ、互いの幸せを心から願って、自分の気持ちに相手の心に、強がっていってしまう。
読んでいて、じれったさを感じるところもあるが、誰でもそういった恋愛を一度はしたことがあるのではないだろうか。
人を傷つけたり、傷つけられたり、遠回りしたり、恋愛とはキレイ事では済まされない事ばかりだから。
共感出来るところが多いのは、登場人物たちに、そういった人間くささがあるから。
非現実的でない恋愛が、この本のなかにはある。
恋愛小説が好きな人や、苦手な人にもお勧めです。

上巻の退屈な出だしのわけが、徐々に明らかになるにつれて、私の読むスピードが加速していった。人によっては、リアリティが感じられず感情移入できないかもしれない。しかし、ここで取り扱われていることは、夫婦であるということはどういうことか、という普遍的なテーマで、それは誰もがいつかは経験する大きな課題なのではないだろうか。この下巻を読む人は、無意識のうちにそのことを考えながら読みすすめることになるだろう。そして、野沢尚の敷いた見事なレールに乗せられ、予想外のストーリーに心を揺さぶられるだろう。

　今まで野沢作品が好きでたくさん読んできましたが、この恋愛時代だけはなんとも読み終わった後、嫌な気分に包まれていました。
　一度別れた夫婦の未練たっぷりのありさまに、なんの罪もない人達が、彼らの茶番劇につき合わされ振り回され傷つけられて、最後にまた二人がハッピーエンドとなるお話です。
　周りの幸せを願っているように見せながら、元夫にとって実は自分が一番であると信じている元妻の自意識過剰が鼻につきます。
　しかしこれこそが現実的なんでしょうね。
　作品としてはリアリティにあふれ素晴らしいのかもしれませんが、小説は非現実を楽しみ、夢見るものであってよい私にとっては正直、怒りがこみ上げて来るのでした。
　ですが一度別れてまた恋愛出来るというのは非現実的でもありますが…

　恋愛小説の中で、こんな身勝手な主人公は未だかつて登場していないかもしれません。
　しかしそんな主人公の夫婦を許せるかどうか読んでみるのもいいかもしれませんね。
