初めて読んだ山本文緒作品で、山本文緒にはまるきっかけとなりました。読みながら涙が溢れ出て止まりませんでした。不器用な人間は生きるのが大変、とどこかで主人公と共鳴しつつ、最後はどこか救われた気分になれるんですね…。自分が辛い時に読んだからそう思ったのかもしれません。でも初めて読んでから４年経ってもう一度読んだ時も号泣してしまいました。未だに私の中では彼女の作品でも一番好きな作品で、かつ、この作品に出会えたことは私にとって一種の宝物です。

読めば読むほど、深く心にしみこんできて、考えさせられる作品です。

自分がわからないとき、何かに困ったとき、いつも私はこの本を手にとってしまいます。
もしも、あなたが今、すごくブルーなら、是非読んでみてください。
読んだら、わかります。

28歳の「私」は結婚6年目の専業主婦。多忙な夫はたいてい不在、子供もいない。「私」は退屈が好き、ごろごろと昼寝をするのが好き。マンションの隣の家の子供、13歳のルフィオと知り合って「私」の毎日は少しづつ変わっていく。ルフィオに恋してしまった「私」は自問する。「なぜこんなことになってしまったのだろう。どうして１５歳も差のある男の子なんかを好きになってしまったのだろうか。何も望まず、水面に石を投げ入れたりせず暮らしてきたのに」と。 ゴールの見えない恋は空虚だろうか。愛しいと感じる心は年齢差という常識を超えられないのだろうか。でも信じていたいよね、「想像すると、本当になる。生きていれば、いつかそれは本当になる」って。

眠れるラプンツェルだった「私」はやっと鍵を開けて塔から出て行く。 塔の鍵はいつでも自分の手の中にあったのだから。
