サントリーニ、ミコノスの白い家に関する本です。
両島に関する本はありますが、これは建築関連の本。
生活、歴史、地形など幅ひろい視点から、独特な白い街並みを検証している。
表層の美しさだけではなく、白く美しい家の影にはどのような歴史的背景があるのか、どのような機能をもっているのか、という事に迫っている。

写真、図版は多数ある。民家、教会などの様式を描いた図が、見ていて楽しい。
次回、訪れた時は、この部分もしっかり見よう、という気にさせてくれる。
近代史の年表もついている所が、嬉しい1冊。
