FlashPlayerのセキュリティに関する事項、ガーベージコレクション等、
本格的なFlashコンテンツを制作するにあたり必須となる内容で有るにも関わらず、他の入門書ではなかなか扱われないトピックについて細かく解説されている点が貴重です。
ただ、Flashの面白さで有る、アニメーションに関しての内容は500ページ超えた辺りからなので、一番最初にこの本を買うと、少々退屈だと感じてしまうかもしれません。

なので、他のAS3入門書（私の場合ActionScript 3.0 プログラミング入門 - for Adobe Flash CS3）等、広く浅く学習した後、アニメーションの楽しさを実感出来る本（私の場合Flash Math & Physics Design:ActionScript 3.0による数学・物理学表現[入門編]、ActionScript 3.0 アニメーション）で暫く楽しんだ後、
この詳説ActionScript3.0を読むという流れが良いかと思いました。

ページ数を見ずに購入したので、最初は厚さに驚きましたが、その分内容が濃く深いです。

ActionScript3.0という言語を深い所までしっかりと学習したい方向けの本です。オブジェクト指向の概念や単語の説明もしっかりされているのですが、専門書ではありませんので、他のオブジェクト指向言語を理解しているエンジニアでないと、文章が理解できないかもしれません。

前半はActionScript3.0の言語使用がサンプルと共に書かれており、ActionScript3.0固有の概念や記述方法をしっかり学習できます。また、IDEであるFlashやFlex Builderの設定方法も随所に記載されており、「この書き方」だと「こういった警告設定をするとワーニングになる」など分かりやすく記載されております。

また、Adobeが監修しているこいう事もあり、言語使用のベースとなっているECMAScript4の言語仕様上、実装者まかせになっている曖昧な部分については、AdobeはなぜActionScript3.0でそのような仕様に確定したのかなど、中の人のブログへのリンクが記載されており、メモ部分までもが非常に参考になりました。

自分は先走って？3.0でのアニメーションのプログラミングを勉強していたのですが、根本から勉強しようと思い購入しましたが、基本的な部分から細かい内容までほんとに網羅しているって感じがして「なるほど」って思うことも多々あったのでactionscript3.0の根底を知るには良書感じました。

また１０００頁もあるしプログラムなので文字ばっかで読みづらいイメージや先が遠いなぁって感じる人もいると思いますが、そんな読みづらいこともなくすんなり進めることができいつの間にか半分近くまで読み終えた感じです。
