3.0 out of 5 stars 初めてのPerlと思って読むとショックを受ける, 2009/3/19
タイトルの通り、初めてのPerlの続編。
リファレンス等の初めてのPerlで紹介仕切れなかった内容をカバーしています
(ただし、それでもまだカバー仕切れていない内容があるので、
これ以上を知りたい場合ラクダ本を買った方がいいと思われます。)

内容は、初めてのPerlにあったようなジョークが無いので、
あっちになれている人は「面白くないなぁ」もしくは
「下らない話が減ってよかった」と思うかも知れません。
また、内容も初めてのPerlより、複雑なので根気よく読んで理解する事が求められます。

とりあえず、この本まで読めば、へたくそでも、
いろいろな単純作業を処理するプログラムを組めるようになると思います。
(サンプルコードは少ないので、サンプルコードを参考にする方はそうではないですが...)

前半の、map,grep,リファレンスの部分はすごく良いです。
特にリファレンスの解説は１から懇切丁寧に説明していて、サンプルコードもユーモアがあり、大変わかりやすかったです。

しかし後半はイマイチです。
require,use,パッケージの解説は端折りすぎて理解できませんでした。
オブジェクト指向の解説も難しいです。
既に他の言語(Javaなど)でオブジェクト指向を理解できている人にはよいかもしれませんが、そうでない人には難しいと思います。
Class::Accessorの紹介もないし、この本の知識だけではオブジェクト指向は使いこなせません。
オブジェクト指向・モジュール・パッケージについては別の本で学習されることをお勧めします。

この本は、リファレンスを理解する為の本だと思います。
後半はリファレンスを利用して実現される機能の紹介だと割り切るとスッキリします。
デバッガの使い方やパッケージの紹介は役に立ちますが、perldocなどを読まないと使えません、その事を教えてくれます。
