古代、政治抗争に敗れ、没落し越の国に逃れていた葛城氏の姫の娘が、葛城の神の加護を受けながら、次第に大和の政治抗争に巻き込まれ利用され、それでも神のために自分のために生きた物語です。

主人公の奇姫はもちろん、越の国から畿内にでて天皇になった継体天皇、手白香皇女や大伴金村など脇を固める人物たちがとても魅力的でそれだけでも好きになりました。
人物たちだけでなく、物語も、テンポがよくて面白く読めました。
すごく感動できるものだったので私はとてもお勧めできる本だと思います。

歴史の教科書でも古代日本なんてちょっとしかやらないけど、そういえばこんな名前の人を勉強したなという人も登場して、それがさまざまな政治的陰謀のなか生きている。あー、こんなのだったかもと思うとかなり楽しかったです。
主人公は男装の美少女でモテモテですが、清く正しく（？）本人が恋愛にうといタイプのようなのでロマンスは期待しないように。
