長編マンガがどのように終わるだろうか？　ということに対して、かなり論理的な予想を行った本です。

たとえば
「『ゴルゴ13』は、ゴルゴの正体が明かされて終わるであろう」
言われてみれば、なるほど、でしょ？

じゃあ「美味しんぼ」は？
次のように喝破するところがさすがです。

「美味しんぼは、山岡士郎と海原雄山の思想は、実は一緒だ。
　また山岡が海原を嫌っている理由も、実は誤解だと読者にはわかっている。
　だから2人の和解によって幕が下りるのは間違いない」

ふぅん。でも、

　[Q1] 2人の和解は、どうもたらされるの？
　[Q2] 2人の思想は実は一緒って、どういう意味？

まず[1]に関する筆者の回答は以下。

　[A1] それは『共通の敵』に2人が結束して立ち向かうことでもたらされる。

　でもさ、
　[Q3] 共通の敵って何？

という疑問が出てきますよね。で、それは本を読んでください。

最も鮮やかで、かつ話題になった「ガラスの仮面」の予想に関しては、
この本の白眉なので、ネタバレはしませんが、
この結末を聞いたマンガ家本人(美内すずえ)は、こともなげにこういったそうです。

「結末予想、見ましたよ。おもしろかった。
　でも、要するにあれよりおもしろい結末にすればいいんでしょう？」

裏表紙の初出一覧を見ると全ての記事が1990年代のものです。
タイトルとなっている最終話予想の記事にいたっては1993年、なんと10年前です。
まあ、だからと言ってマンガの情勢が停滞しているためか現在の状況でも読めなことも無いです。
ですが、竹熊復活と喜んだ私としてはちょっと残念な気持ちです。
