初めてこの本を見たときは
「これだから萌えブームは」
とか思っていましたが、手にとって読んでみると内容がまとまっており、とても読みやすいので驚きました。
元々、「萌え」や「戦争」に抵抗や思い入れがある訳ではないので、特に気にすることもなく楽しませてもらっています。
右翼や左翼という考え方にも疎い自分のような真ん中寄り(?)にはちょうどいいと思います。
表紙買いしても問題なく、気になった人は買ってみても損はしません。

　表紙はいかにもな萌え系書籍ですが、読んで見ると意外なまでのその硬派な内容に驚かされます。
　大日本帝國海軍の歴史を萌えイラストを交えながら、それでいてしっかりと解説する本書は今まで軍事に興味の無かった人にもすんなりと受け入れられる事でしょう。
　内容は若干左よりかもしれませんが、現在出版されている書籍のほとんどよりは公平な視点から帝國海軍の歴史を解説しています。萌えにさほど興味が無い人にも純粋にミリタリー本として推奨できる出来です。

なぜ萌えが必要だったのか？という疑問は生じるかもしれないが，ミリ萌えが一定のジャンルとして定着しつつある今，商売的に仕方がないのだろう
内容的にはそれほど酷い物ではなく，連合艦隊結成から太平洋戦争終了＝解体までの戦史が，分かりやすく解説されている．内容的にも，誤認や不備は見あたらない．
決して万人向けとは言えないが，連合艦隊入門としては，あり得る一形態なのではないだろうか．

なお，個人的には“萌え”の部分で，この絵柄は嫌い．
