自走砲と突撃砲と駆逐戦車、外見が良く似てるけど違いは何か？この説明が実に明快です。「お役所の権限争いのせい」どこに所属するかによって呼び名がかわるだけ。砲兵科：自走砲、歩兵科：突撃砲、戦車科：駆逐戦車というわけです。うーんなるほど。本文ではそれぞれの本来の役割についてもちゃんと説明してあります。この１巻は概論なので第一次大戦から現在まで各国別に要領よく説明してます。要所要所では「電撃作戦」「タンク・デサントと装甲兵員輸送車」のように押さえるべきところは押さえています。まんがも作者が好きで書いているのが好感がもてます。入門書には最適。２巻は第二次大戦に絞って各国の運用の違いを説明してます。ソ連がなぜ危険な「タンク・デサント」を行ったのか、女性戦車兵が存在した理由なども２巻で説明してます。
３巻は歴史的な戦略や戦術の解説になるそうです。

　「戦車の役割って何？」「キャタピラで走れば全部戦車？」「装甲ってなに？」「兵隊より、全部戦車にした方が強そう」等々、「戦車」という物に対して何の知識のないひとや、「プラモでよく作るけど、言われてみればよく知らないな」といった人にお勧めする「戦車入門」みたいな本。大方のことを広く浅く知りたい方にはピッタリだと思います。「萌え」を前面に出してますが、表紙がアレで買いにくいだけです。ページの合間の漫画も言うほど狙ってない。そこら辺が「萌える英単語帳」を作った三才ブックス（彼らはプロですから）との差か。

解説は明朗にして簡潔。非常にわかりやすいので表紙は無視して買いましょう。ちなみに、ニュース映像を見てその戦闘の解説が出来る人や、戦車の隊列を見て「パンツァーカイルだ」と分かる人など、ディープな人には単なる知識の再確認にしかなりません。雑誌の「パンツァー」を買ってください。

　戦車という兵器について非常に分かりやすくまとめられていると思います。戦車に関する基礎知識を、手軽に得たいと思っている方にはお勧めできる内容だと言えるでしょう。

　しかし、「萌え入門書」を謳っている割には、マンガのページ数は少なく、イラストの使いまわしも多いです。また、田村尚也氏の絵は雑な所が目立ちます。そのため、「萌え入門書」としては期待はずれな内容であったと感じました。

　「お手軽戦車入門書」としては星4つ、「萌え入門書」としては星2つをつけます。
