アニメファンからは特に評価が高い細田監督の絵コンテ集。
しかし、その出来上がった作品やこの絵コンテを見ても明らかに多くの人に観てもらえるよう作られています。

映画を観た人は「なるほど、こういう感じで作っていたんだ」と追体験できるし、
未見の人は、出来れば本編を観てからの方がいいけども絵がどのように動画になるかがわかる。
実際、絵コンテの読み方が分からなくても動いている様子が想像できるくらいにしっかりとしたコンテです。
演出や編集などの映像関係の仕事を目指す人やその仕事の人は読んでみる価値は十二分にあると思います。

こまのバランスを変えたらそのまま漫画にも出来そうなくらいに生き生きとしたコンテ。
アニメ産業は海外に流出しているような話ばかり聞きますが、
そんな目先にとらわれずに、日本の頑張っている人たちにもしっかりと光を当てて欲しいです。
情熱をもっていい物を作ることが後世へつながるのですから。

同名映画の監督である細田氏直筆の４００P以上に及ぶ絵コンテをすべて収録。巻末に細田氏が自分の映画製作の哲学を語ったインタビューが数P付いています。

完成品の映画を期待せずに観に行ったのですが、最初から最後まで主人公の気持ちに感情移入して、一時も目を離さずにスクリーンを見つめ、感動と充実感とともに映画館を出ました。感情描写や落ち着いた演出など、近年の実写映画の演出を越えている部分も数多く見られました。いったいどうすればこのような素晴らしい映像と脚本と演出が融合した作品ができるのだろう？と興味に思って購入したのですが、絵コンテの時点で素晴らしい内容です。凄まじい感情表現の計算と努力の結晶を見ることができます。一シーン、一コマ、一つのしぐさに与えられた重要な意味。そして練りに練られたタイム計算の跡。また、この絵コンテを読み込んで原画を作る作画監督など、この映画製作に携わった各スタッフの理解能力の高さも良くわかります。ほぼこの絵コンテのイメージ通りに各キャラクターの動き方や演出の価値観が統一されているのですから。アニメは一人では出来ない仕事なのだな、ということも伝わってきました。

映画を作る製作側の恐ろしいまでの熱意の核心を見ることができます。素人の読み応え的にも絵コンテ技術の参考にもとても価値の高い一冊。値段分の価値は十分ありです。

細田守監督直筆の絵コンテです。400ページ以上の大ボリュームで
映画『時をかける少女』の冒頭から終わりまでの数々のシーンが描かれています。
基本的には映画本編と全く同じ内容ではありますが、
幾つか未公開シーンがあり、作品ファンは必見かも。

映画そのままの隙の無い画面構成と監督直筆の別の味わいのある絵柄、
緻密で細かな演出意図の書かれたト書きと、細田ファンなら大満足の一冊です。
