まずこの写真集を買うのはわりと緊張した。冗談ではない。

「少女写真集」である。全編が少女である。しかも、見るからに愛くるしい、そしてフツーの。多くがソフトフォーカスの写真ばかりで郷愁を醸し出すが、たった十数年前までの。それを「郷愁」「ノスタルジー」と言わざるをえないほどに社会が変わった。とくに「少女」を巡る社会は表層的に激変した。お気づきだろうが、ここに残された「少女」たちは一人も携帯電話を持っていない。当たり前だが、そういうことなのだ。「彼女」たちの多くはすでに成人を過ぎ、結婚し、子供がいて、まさにここに残された「少女」たちのような「少女」が娘かもしれない。では、青山は今なら、今の少女にカメラを向けただろうか？カメラを向けることを許されるだろうか？その道で、あの公園で、校庭で。あの日、青山のカメラに微笑んだ「あの日の少女」たちは、今再び自分の子供にカメラを向けられたら何と言うだろうか？

そしてもし僕が今日、明日に死んで誰かがこの写真集（と第二集）を僕の部屋に見つけたとき、僕はどんな人間だったと後に語られるのだろうか？もし、この写真集に男の子の写真（も、あったはずだ、きっと）が混ざっていたらきっと在らぬことを語られず、「彼は子供が好きだった」と遠くを見る目で語ってくれるのだろうか？「恐ろしく美しい少女」たちの写真を眺めながら思うのは、いつしか郷愁でもノスタルジーなどでもなく、とめどなく子供と大人が隔離されていく、今の社会のことである。だから、これほどまでに胸の痛む作品集はない。青山が「少女」を撮っていた昭和の最後の「あの日々」に、「少女」に胸をときめかせていた「あの日の少年」として胸が痛い。

小さな花を持つ少女の表紙に惹きつけられてこの写真集を手に取りました。ついこの間まで、子供達は知らない人にでもこんな笑顔を向けて遊んでいたのですね。遠い過去というほど古くはないのに、でも今ではもう見られません。膨大な写真の量と本の大きさや手応えにも驚きました。写真家、青山静男は、昭和の終わりを子供達の笑顔と共に駆けぬけていってしまった人なのだと思いました。

今巷に　氾濫しているＵ15写真とは違い、作り物では無い笑顔。
本当に自然な少女達の笑顔が　この写真集を開くと出会えます。
今のＵ15写真集に求める物は　この写真集にはほとんどありません。
モシカシタラ　
　　ショウガクジダイノ　初恋ヲ　オモイダセルカモ?!
