　巻頭の村上春樹インタビューは大満足でした。自分の作家人生を振り返り、一人称から三人称までの移行に10年をかけたこと、インタビュー集（「アンダーグラウンド」など）や紀行取材本（「シドニー！」ほか）等の仕事でも、文体や語り手の視点の処理を一冊一冊アスリートのように学びながら書き手として進化しようとしていることが語られます。語り手としての彼の文学観や問題意識がうまく読者に明らかにされていると思います。

　また、個人的には、「象を撃つ」（G.オーウェル）の柴田訳もお目当てでした。訳自体がこれまでの本訳と大きく違うことはありませんでしたが、こういう過去の名品も新しい読者に紹介し続けてほしいと思います。

　クオリティを維持しつつ文学を扱うのが難しい時代ですし、ネタ切れが怖い気もしますが、地道に続いてほしい雑誌です。

2008年12月の村上春樹氏と古川日出男氏と対談が
掲載されています。

先ず「肉体から小説を作る」という話題から始まり、
海外で書き始めたきっかけや、
「ねじまき鳥クロニクル」を書きあげた時の状況、
「アンダーグラウンド」に対する思い、
一人称から三人称への移行、

それから、アメリカの9.11事件の話から
なぜ村上作品が多くのヒトに
受け入れられているのか、

さらに、今後の活動について語られています。

彼は、平凡なヒトでありながら、
やはりすごいヒトなんだと、改めて思いました。
そして、イマの時代に適合したヒトなのだと思う。
新作がますます楽しみに。

もうひとつ、 本書で魅力的だったのは、
2大女流作家といってもいい、
小川洋子と川上弘美、お二人の対談。
とても興味深い話が展開されています。

小説を書き出した経緯、
物語を始める“とっかかり”や
“わたし”というもののとらえ方
小説との距離感の話。

お二人の作風の違いが顕著に表れている。

さるきちが特に気になったのは、
「輪郭の見える小説と顔の見えない小説」

小川氏は登場人物をじっと見て物語を作るといいます。
だから、細部まで描くことができる。

一方で川上氏は俯瞰しながら書くというのです。
だから、顔とか服装とかぼんやりしている。

こうした話が、最近の「猫を抱いて像と泳ぐ」、「風花」を初め、
「博士の愛した数式」、「どこから行っても遠い町」 など、
代表作を引用しながら語られています。

お二方の多くの著書を読まれた方には
とても楽しんで読める内容でしょう。


雑誌のメインテーマは「対話」。
それに基づき、詩や俳句、マンガ、
小説なども掲載されています。
お腹いっぱいの一冊です。

読み応え十分のインタビューに満足。
１Q84の発売を控える村上さんのインタビューからは、作家の意気込みが伝わる。
作家は体力だ。
不健康では作品は生まれない。
自分に対する啓示がなされていた。
