児童労働の絵本はあまりないので貴重だと思います。参考文献も紹介され、この問題を知るきっかけとして最適なのでは。労働を強いられる途上国の子ども達のワンシーンと彼らの教育への想いを、さわやかな切り絵で表現した絵本で、リアルな悲惨さはないのに、かえってそれが心に染みいる気がします。前書き後書きの、前向きで明快な著者の想いは、うじうじ考えて動けない私に力を与えてくれるようです。私は、小学校の読み聞かせボランティアに使いました。（書いてある言葉は少ないのですが、著者の方から直接資料もいただけたので、それを読みました。）また、イラストの中の、地雷を口で取り除く腕のない子のシャツのしわに、たまらなくなり泣けました。
