5周年を迎えたデビルメイクライの記念DVDブックです。
最近やたらとDVDブックを発売しているカプコンですが、
これはその中ではましなほうだと思います。

メインとなるストーリー映像ですが、
すでに発売されている3の設定資料集のUMDとは違い、
単発ムービーや戦闘映像でつながせて、全体的にスムーズです。
しかし一方で省略したイベントがあることも事実ですので、
ゲームをまだクリアしてない人には却ってマイナスだと思います。
ブックは読み物も（割と）多く、関連グッズや関係図などもあって
今まで発売されたカプコンのDVDブックの中では一番いいと思います。
その他、PS3で発売予定のデビルメイクライ4の映像や、
既に発売されているサウンドDVDブックのリミックスもあります。
個人的にはよいと思いますが、
分量的にあまり期待しないほうがいいと思います。

ゲームを何回もプレイしていて、
且つサウンドDVDブックを持っていれば基本的に不要かと思いますが、
「EDがもう一度見たい、でもやり直す時間がない」とか、
「デビルメイクライに関するものなら何でも」という方は
ひとつ持っていて悪くないと思います。
最初にも書きましたが、
カプコンのDVDブックの中ではかなりいい出来だと思いますので、
がっかりさせられることはまずないと思います。

DMC3発売以降に出た関連書籍の中では最も残念な一冊です。収録されたムービーについては他の方々の御指摘通りで、自力でクリアできない、再度プレイする時間、環境が無い方にのみお勧めできる内容です。
また、本の方も担当者の非常に個人的な主観で3のラスボスについて切々と語ってある一方、ゲームに殆ど触れず、ファンの間でほぼ共通認識化している事（Devil May Cryは3以前には『悪魔も泣くかもしれない』ではなく『悪魔も泣き出す』という意味で使われていた）を知らずにシリーズを紹介する、ダンテの事を"白髪の男"と表現する等、ムービーを見ただけでこのシリーズについて十分調べてない人間のものと見てとれます。
「人間だったのがダンテの母でなく父だったら、その父性愛は息子を救う奇跡を起こさなかっただろう」「バージルも母親を守りたかった、バージルとダンテはお互いのシャドウ」等思い込み過多なコラムは、原作をちゃんと知らない担当者に書かれると、何とも苦々しいばかりです。
帯にある「これを観なければデビルは語れない!!」が皮肉です。
むしろ無駄な文字を入れず、当時のCG全体図等を入れてあった方がファンには嬉しかったのではないでしょうか。

４の主人公が変わることを受けてのダンテ編の総集編としてみるとちと切ないです。

内容は１作毎にムービーを映画のように編集して１つにしましたって作りになっています。
当然だらだらムービーつなぎましたという作りではないので、その点は問題がないのですが、動く攻略本、アクション付きのサントラ、といった趣の前３作とはことなります。

３作をプレイして感慨に浸りたい御仁向き？
ムービーを見るのに、MISSIONクリアしないといけなかった１のユーザーには、涙ものですが、簡単にムービーを見ることが出来る方式を本編でとってしたまった２，３のユーザーさんには、どうでようか。
「あのシーンカットかよ！！」ってなクレームは１，２，３それぞれにありますが、それはそれ、プレイした本人だけの特典ってことでしょう。
