type Pの解説本としては、欲しい情報は網羅していると思う。入れると便利そうなフリーソフトのCD-ROMがついているが、個人的にはこれはいらなかったかなぁ。いまなら、ネットから最新版をダウンロードするほうが早いような。Windows 7のインストール（ベータ）についても情報は十分。この本でとくに充実しているのは、type Pをばらして改造してしまうための解説。筐体の開け方、その際の注意点など細かく説明されている。自分にはそこまでひつようなかったけど。

残念なのは、解説の際のキャプチャーの図がかなり小さいことか。type Pの画面が小さいからとこんなとこまで小さくしなくてもよかったのに。それとプレインストールのソフトを削除してチューニングするヒントまではあるのだが、実際にどのソフトが必要ないかを判断する材料に乏しいというところか。

4.0 out of 5 stars Type Pの分解・組み立て、HDDからSSDへ換装、内蔵ミニPCI Expカード利用法などハードな内容に惹かれて購入, 2009/7/20
VAIO Type Pの使い方のヒントになる情報が満載されている。
SSDへの換装など分解方法が詳細に記されているが、保証対象外になってしまうので見て楽しむだけにしておくのが賢明だ。
内容的には、2009年4月中旬頃までの情報である。従って、対応CPUにZ550が無かったり、XP化に関してはソニーがXPアプリの提供を正式に始める前の手順であったり、WiMAX内蔵モデルが触れられていなかったりと、３ヶ月間の進化は早い。しかし、良くぞこれだけ集めたと言えるだけの情報の価値に変わりは無い。
しかし、残念なことと言えば軽量化の為に削除すべきVAIO固有のアプリや常駐ソフト等に関する情報が少ないことである。とは言え、これだけのTipsがあれば後は最新情報をWebで集めれば何とかなりそうだ。
