前作を上回るスケールと、前作を上回る悪鬼羅刹のごときストーリー展開！

本作は、破滅あるいは変化の物語である。
ウェルズの「宇宙戦争」を下敷きにして、かの作品と同じく、緻密に、冷静に、倫敦は刻々と破壊されてゆく。

無論破壊は、都市にとどまらない。それはわが怪人同盟の面々も同じこと。永続する関係などない。様々な心がすれ違い、ある者は死に、また、別れてゆく。

クロスオーバー度（と悪趣味度）もパワーアップ。

序盤からして「だって火星じゃん」という理由で、例の蛸型宇宙人はもとより、ジョン・カーターの火星シリーズも、ムアコックの火星シリーズも、Ｃ．Ｓ．ルイス（ナルニア物語の著者）の「マラカンドラ」も、その他もろもろまとめて引き受ける。

バカの仕業である（誉め言葉）。

巻末の旅行記（怪人同盟の面々が、各地の秘境を渡り歩く。ありとあらゆるフィクションの「架空の土地」が描かれてゆく）は、とにかく圧巻。てか、さすがに一度に読もうとすると死ぬので、解説と合わせてゆっくり読むことをお薦め。

英語版になるが、以下も副読本としてお薦め。

今回の敵は『宇宙戦争』の火星人ということで期待したのだが、やや外れ。
細かい設定や意外な登場キャラ等の遊び心には感心するが
あまりの遊びすぎ、のびのび具合に乗れなかった。
やりたい事はよくわかるんだが。

　前作を上回る驚愕のストーリー展開に圧倒されつつ、一気に読んでしまいました。
　諸事情が有ったのでしょうが、映画化された「リーグ・オブ・レジェンド」が更に物足りなく感じてしまいます。
　登場人物の版権や暴力描写などを映像化するのはかなり難しいとは思いますが、原作に基づいた映画化を希望してやみません（仮に再映画化された暁には成人指定は避けられないでしょうけど）。

　前作読まれた方は必見なのでは？
