内容は攻略が半分、コラムやインタビューや資料といった読み物が半分。
攻略はあっさり目ですが、ポイントは押さえてあります。
そして、コラムがすごい!今までわからなかったことやトリビア的なことまでぎっしりで長年の謎が解けました。これを読むだけでも買ったかいがありました。
ただ、本が縦開きなので読みづらいのが玉にきずです。

グラディウスらしく隠し要素もありました。カバーを外すと...

「グラディウスポータブルの攻略本」と言うより、「アーケード版グラディウス（＋外伝）大全」。
攻略以外にも、元「ゲーメスト」編集長、石井ぜんじ氏の当時を振り返るコラムが随所に掲載されています。
また、開発者インタビューが６ページ×５作品＝計３０ページあり、「ビックバイパー」の名前の由来や、設定資料なども公開しています。
２０年以上の歴史があるシリーズですが、このような公式ガイドが出るのは初なので、貴重です。

ゲームの方も買いましたが、外伝の件はともかく、この公式ガイドはかなり貴重だと思います。
以前(といっても１０年以上前)ですが、何かのゲーム雑誌でちょこっと付録として、ゲームの主役機、メカの設定の小冊子がついていたのですが、あれこれ見ているうちに、風化がひどくなり、ちょうどグラディウスのページがボロボロになっていたところに今回のこの設定資料集付き攻略本というのはうれしいです。
他のゲーム攻略本も、どうでも良いような情報を載せるぐらいなら、少しはこの公式ガイドを見習って(？)ゲームキャラクターの設定資料集でも載せてみれば良いのにと思います。
