本文から抜粋すると「相手の応手をすべて読みきってください。実戦では読みきらないと大駒は切れません。」とあります。形式としては問題が20問程度、解答なしに連続して掲載さてており、連続して読むことを要求されます。また、各問題に対して多いもので4ページも解説があります（合計80問）。相手の最強の受け、こちらの失敗例と深く手を読むということはこういうことかと良く分かります。私はよく図書館で本を借りるのですが、この本は購入しました。購入することで、自分で読みきる前に解説をみるのがもったいなくなり、応手を含めて良く読む習慣がつきました。この本はただの必至の基本手筋が学べる以上に、深く手を読むということが分かり、深く読まされる本です。本のレベルとしては初段程度の方が最もお勧めです。

部分的な寄せの手筋や基本的な必死形を、問題の形で多数紹介しています。有段者には簡単な問題が多いですが級位者~初段くらいの方にはお勧めです。章ごとに必死問題が最初にまとめて載っているので、裏が透けて答えが見えてしまうということもありません。

将棋を始めてみたものの、終盤で王手が追う手になりいつも負けてばかりでした。
しかし本書を読んで「必至」というものを知り、負けていた相手にも星を返すことができるようになりました。
わかりやすい問題から勉強できるので、終盤が苦手という人には楽しく読める良書だと思いました。
