独立した一本のマンガとしての完成度は正直、ほぼオリジナルストーリーだった、
「降誕」よりもかなり落ちます。どう見てもページ数が足りず、ダイジェストになって
しまっているので。

ただ、冨士氏のあとがきを読み、２０年以上のシリーズの流れを想うと、「このコミック
に出会えてよかった…」と思わずにいられません。８６年に「死を恐れた男」とだけ
記された者の物語が、ここにあります。

＊発売後１ヶ月でコレクター価格になっているのは残念ですね（ほぼ倍額）。
一部、台詞の不備もあるようですし、出版社は早く再販して適正価格で手軽に
買えるようにして欲しいものです。

以下に私の知る範囲で、冨士氏とワルキューレシリーズの関わりをまとめてみます。
●１９８６年　「ワルキューレの冒険・FC版」
…時の鍵伝説（サンドラ、タッタ、コアクマン、ズールなどのレギュラー陣＆ゾウナ登場）
ゲーム自体はナムコの女性プランナーを中心に製作された
冨士氏は当時別部署で、パッケージやマニュアルなど販促イラストのみを担当

●１９８９年　「ワルキューレの伝説・アーケード版」
…黄金の種伝説（大女神さま、４精霊＆カムーズ初登場）
冨士氏はこの作品からスタッフとして、イメージボード・キャラクターイラストを担当

●１９９０年　「ワルキューレの伝説・PCエンジン版」
…（アーケード版没案のひとつ、ブラックワルキューレ初登場）

●１９９２年　「サンドラの大冒険」（SFC）
…冒険＆伝説に出演したサンドラが、クリノ・サンドラとして確立する
（ニコル族など設定補強）
冨士氏はフリーとなり、イメージボード・キャラクターイラストを担当

●１９９６年　「ローザの冒険」（Win3.1/95）
…パソコンのデジタルコミック（ヴィオレット初登場・天上界の設定補強）
冨士氏はストーリー原案＆キャラクターデザインを担当

●１９９６年　「ワルキューレの謎」（コミック・エッセイ）
…アスペクト刊「ローザの冒険ファンブック」に収録された冨士氏の
「同シリーズに対するナムコへの問いかけ＆独自の仮説マンガ」
おそらく、この時の問いかけがコミック「降誕」につながったと思われる

●１９９８年　「ワルキューレの冒険・PSアレンジ版」
…（エンリケ族など設定補強）
冨士氏はイメージボード・キャラクターイラストを担当

●２００５年　「ワルキューレの降誕」（コミック）
主に天上界とブラックワルキューレに関する冨士氏の解釈をオリジナルコミック化

●２００７年　「ワルキューレの栄光」（コミック）
冨士氏解釈の「降誕」をベースに、「サンドラの大冒険」と「冒険・PSアレンジ版」
のサイドストーリーをコミック化

ちなみにイベント発生順は
「降誕」、「サンドラ」、「冒険」、「伝説」
となり、「ローザ」は冨士氏自身が「謎」の中で不明であると言及しています。
また、「レジェンド」なるカラー設定画集によれば、「冒険」「伝説」に次ぐ３つめの
企画が、かつて予定されていたらしい。現況は不明…

ナムコを代表するキャラクターであろうワルキューレが主人公の漫画。
作者はもちろん冨士宏氏です。

氏の描くワルキューレは、強く、美しく、真っ直ぐで、凛々しい。
金髪緑眼の戦乙女の活躍は、見ているだけで胸が躍ります。僕のようなナムコ好きなら尚の事でしょう。

今作は「ワルキューレの冒険」を下敷きとした物語となっており、ファミコンをプレイした事のある方ならばスムーズに物語に入り込めると思います。

ゾウナとの対決。そして、時の鍵を抜いた男の結末。
この第二巻で物語は完結ですが、またどこかで、真っ直ぐに語りかけてくるワルキューレに会いたいものです。

時の鍵伝説、完結。

あとがきで作者も言及されていますが、雑誌側から用意された総ページ数が制限されていたことで話がかなり詰め込まれた感があります。
しかし、それは描き始めから想定されていたこと故に全体的な緩急の付け具合で見事に大団円を迎えるような展開となっています。

『〜の降誕』と同じくファンとして安心して読める内容です。
