1stのThe ANIMATIONから2ndのThe NATURALへの橋渡し的な本です。
本自体は、表題の通り、The ANIMATIONのガイドが主で、1stの詳しい解説と製作者の裏話
それに、対談などが載せられていて、読めば製作者サイドのこのアニメにかける思いが
伝わってきて、さらにThe ANIMATIONが好きになること請け合いです。
個人的には、放映時には、なにげなくみていた、アニメオリジナルとなる１２話でしたが
ゲストキャラの設定など、かなり掘り下げたものとなっていて、しかも一度も呼ばれないにもかかわらず
それぞれのキャラに「あ」から始まる法則に沿った名前がつけられていることがわかり
しかもそのキャラたちが、それぞれ・・・これ以上いうとネタバレで面白くないので省略しますが
ファンの方々は、ぜひ読んでみてください。絶対損はしませんので。
もちろん、ドラマＣＤも脚本、出演者ともにノリノリで、大変面白く、このＣＤだけでもお値段の元は十分取れると思います。
ただ、ちょっと気になったのが、原作の天野こずえ先生書き下ろしの「少女とおじさま」です。
私がこのレビューを書いたのは、The NATURALの第二話が放送された直後なのですが
どうしても、つじつまがあわない部分ができてしまったことです。
つまり、灯里とカフェ・フロリアンの店長が知り合いなのかそうでないのかということ。
「少女とおじさま」の灯里と店長がアニメ版ではなく漫画版のキャラであるために起きてしまったことなので
この漫画は、このガイドだけの特典として読めばいいと思います。

私も最初この本を見つけた時は、少し買うか悩みました。しかし、買ってみると予想しいたよりもとても内容が充実していました。付録で付いてくるドラマＣＤも、最初はほんのおまけと思っていましたが聞いてみるととってもよっかたです。以前パーフェクトガイドブックのシリーズ買ったことがある人や買おうか迷っている人に勧めたいです。

お勧めします。
ドラマCDがついているため、多少高くなった感はありますが、内容は本の付録とは思えない、アニメーションと同じクオリティを持っており、一度聞いてみる価値は十分あると思います。
内容は、「ARIA The Animation」のクロニクル兼製作後記といえるもので、アニメを見る前に買っても、見たあとに買っても楽しめると思います。ちなみに私は、見る前に買いましたが、それでも「ネタバレ」にならない範囲でのクロニクルに仕上がっており、より深くアニメ作品や原作コミックを楽しめる点で、特にお勧めします。
