人が自然と好むバランス……黄金比について丸一冊です。
トレーシングペーパーが間あいだに組み込まれた装丁で、
どこかで目にしたことのある絵や、車、いすなど、デザインの比率を解き明かしています。
黄金長方形ほか、作図法が解説されています。

デザイン苦手、計算も苦手、そんな私でも、ついていけました。

その前に発行されている、青の本は、様々な分野に対応できますが
難しめの印象で、ところどころつまみ読みでした。
この赤い本は、全体的に自分に見る目と感覚を与えてくれました。

「ノンデザイナーズ・デザインブック」が、素人でも格好悪くならないためのボトムアップ書だとすれば、こちらはプロが格好良く仕上げるための発想の宝庫。大学の建築の先生はたったこれだけの事も教えてくれなかった。何で？これからは自信持ってデザインしていけるよ。

「センスがなくてもデザインはできる。」
入学した私たちに校長先生がおっしゃった言葉です。
そんなバカな話があるものか…と思っていたのですが
この本を読むと、必ずしも「センスがすべて」ではないと納得します。
原理を学び、論理的に構成すれば、それなりのものは仕上がる…と。

ただそれだけが「デザイン」ではないと思うし
多少無理をしている説明もあるように感じたのは事実。

よく言われる黄金比やルート長方形の説明を掘り下げて解説しているので
学校の教科書を、実例とともに分かりやすく補足説明してくれる教材
といった捉え方で見ると、とても良い本だと思います。
