なんとなく手に取った本でしたが、ステージのフレディからは想像できないなんとも人間味溢れた素顔のフレディがいました。クイーンを聴かなくなって何年たつでしょうか？本を読み終わった後、無性にクイーンが聞きたくなりました。素晴らしい歌をありがとう。

フレディが好きで、フレディってどんな人だったんだろう？という興味から手に取った本ですが、これを読んで更に更にフレディが大好きになりました。本当に純粋で真っ直ぐ、可愛らしい人だったんだろうと思います。また著者のジム氏と出会えて、最後まで一緒にいられてフレディは幸せだったなと嬉しく思いました。元恋人の暴露本とか色々な見方はできると思いますが、単純にフレディの一面を知ることができるという意味でいい本だと思います。結構プライベート写真も掲載されていますし。ただファンでなければなんら意味のない内容でもありますが。フレディが病を知り、そこから始まる病との闘い、そして最後に迎える死の場面では、何度読んでも涙がこぼれます。もっと生きていて欲しかった。

フレディという一人のパフォーマーの魅力をもっと知りたくて手にしたこの本。最愛の恋人ジムとフレディの二人の生活は本当に私がステージからでは想像できなかった、とても人間らしいくて、最高の恋愛物語だった。どんなに有名になって、どんなにすばらしいパフォーマンスをしてても、やっぱりひとりの人間で、人を愛し、恋人から愛されることを欲し、恋に悩み、人としての生き方に悩む。フレディを近く感じられたし、二人の愛に心を揺さ振られた。フレディを知りたいという気持ちがなくても、二人の男の恋愛物語として泣ける最高の本。フレディの恋人や友人にむけるユーモアは本当にかわいらしいし、やさしさがわかる。せつなくて、あったかい一冊。
