横溝 正史
1902(明35)年、神戸市生まれ。本名正史。神戸二中卒業後、銀行勤務。21(大10)年「恐ろしきエイプリル・フール」が『新青年』懸賞に入選。同年、大阪薬学専門学校入学。卒業後は薬種業を営んでいたが、26年、江戸川乱歩の招きで上京し、博文館に入社。32(昭7)年、退社して創作に専念しようとしたが、翌年咯血。療養後の35年、「鬼火」で再起を果たす。45年、岡山に疎開。終戦後、長編「本陣殺人事件」を『宝石』に連載。同作品で第1回探偵作家クラブ賞(現・日本推理作家協会賞)を受賞。76年、勲三等瑞宝章を叙勲。81年(昭56)病歿

横井 司
1962年、石川県金沢市に生まれる。大東文化大学文学部日本文学科卒業。専修大学大学院文学研究科博士後期課程修了。95年、戦前の探偵小説に関する論考で、博士(文学)学位取得。『小説宝石』で書評を担当。現在、専修大学人文科学研究所特別研究員。日本推理作家協会・日本近代文学会会員(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

第1巻は主に戦前発表の単行本未収録作品と随筆、評論、計68本を集めたものです。 横溝正史作品は、角川文庫や出版芸術社など、ここ数年続々と未収録作品が単行本になっていますのでジュブナイルを除けば残りは、ショートショートのような作品ばかりです。 しかし、「ルパン大盗伝」「海底水晶宮」の2長編も収録されています。これらは、モーリスルブランの「水晶の栓」「奇巌城」がベースになった翻案作品です。翻案は、翻訳とは違い訳者がアレンジを加えたものですで、オリジナルとは異なる部分があります。
例えば、「海底水晶宮」はルパン以外は全て日本人の名前に変わっています。 ガニマール警部は蟹丸(かにまる)警部、スザンヌは鈴子、イジドールボードルレは三田村史郎になっています。他には暗号トリックが、全く別物に変わっています。 モーリスルブランの作品は、ポプラ社や創元推理文庫などで読むことができます。
マイナーな出版社からの刊行なので、発行部数は、少ないかもしれません。 買い逃すと二度と手に入らなくなるかもしれませんので、横溝マニアは是非お買い求め下さい。 全2巻の予定でしたが、3巻が刊行されることになりました。 これも、買いもらさないようご注意を。
