Soalris 10普及のための、x86 solaris入門ユーザ必携ムック。

今発行されている解説本の中では、ユーザ向けとしては
よいのではないでしょうか。プロ向けではないですので、
プロ向け書籍の刊行を期待したいところではあります。

どれかのトピックスに詳しい、という訳でなく、
歴史、Linuxとの比較から初めて、GUI(JDS)にスクリーンショット
を多様して、アプリごとに解説で、多くの紙面をさいています。

トピックスを盛り込みすぎて、たとえば新機能を使った
サーバ構築などもありますが、そんなに深い解説でもない。
でも、SMFの解説が深いのが特長で、ユーザには便利です。

付録のx86のハードウエア対応一覧は、更新頻度を
考えると、紙媒体に掲載するのはちょっと危険でしょうか。

いづれにしても、このムックもVD/CDが付録なのは、
今後の普及にはずみがつきそうです。

添付DVD目当てで購入しました。
インストール方法を中心に最低限必要なことは
書かれていると思います。
個人的なことを言うと、Unixはサーバ管理で
リモートから簡単なコマンドを使う程度の
レベルの私にとっては、迷うところが多々
ありました。また、ネットワーク設定等は
別途自力で調べて行いました。

Solaris独特の部分やコマンドラインでの
設定管理方法など、初心者向けにもう少し
基本的な内容も説明して欲しいところでした。
経験者には、DVDがあるだけでも魅力かもしれません。

SolarisというOSには以前から興味があったものの、なかなか分かりやすい本が無くて、他のOSばかりに目がいっていました。

しかし、この本にはsolaris10のDVDが添付されていて、パソコン中級者以上なら充分できる内容に、私は購入して良かったと思っています。他の書籍、雑誌でもsolaris10のDVDがついてきますが、内容が物足りなかったり、分かりづらかったりと満足できませんでしたが、この本なら大抵の人は満足することでしょう。
