世界中のデザイナーが使っているBitstream社製の欧文TrueTypeフォント500書体を付属CD-ROMに収録したフォント集の改訂3版。TrueTypeフォントに加えPostscriptフォントも同種類を同時収録。WindowsとMacintoshの両対応（WindowsXP、MacOSXに対応）。フォント見本帳でもある書籍本体は、「改訂新版」と同様、収録フォント種類別に「セリフ」「サンセリフ」「スクリプト」「ディスプレイ」「その他」の5つに分類して掲載することで、使いたいフォントをすぐ探し出せるように工夫されている。欧文フォントの歴史や使い方、アドバイスなど、フォントの豆知識についても掲載している。

5つの特徴別に分類した印刷見本を大判で掲載しているので、フォント名を覚えていなくても、すぐに見つけられる。アルファベットの印刷見本だけでなく、文章の「組み見本」も掲載。実際の仕上がりをひと目でわかるように工夫した。意外に知られていない欧文フォントの特徴と歴史を紹介。使い方のポイントが身につく上に、書体選びが楽しくなる。

5.0 out of 5 stars デザインをする人なら最初に買うべき書体集, 2005/10/30
まさに基本・古典といえるベーシックな書体がひと通り揃っています。
飛び道具的な書体はそれほど多くなく、バランスの良い組んで美しい書体ばかりですので、バリバリ仕事に使えます。
書名こそTrueTypeですが、Macintosh用のPostScriptフォントも同時収録されてますので、DTPユーザーの方にもバッチリです。
そして、全書体の書体帖が同梱（これ重要！）
英字書体が欲しい人は、最初にまずこれを買うべきでしょう。
こういう良い書体は、以前は買うと結構高かったんですよ。この値段で買えるようになったなんて、良い時代になったものです。

唯一の欠点としては、一部書体名に書体提供会社独自の命名が使われていることです。
版権の問題でしょうね。もっとも書体帖には一般名も併記されているので、さほど問題は少ないですが。

Helvetica(Swiss)とFuturaのために購入しました。
品質、使い勝手ともに問題なく、1書体につきだいたい５つ前後のウエイトの違うフォントが収録されているので目的別に幅広く使えます。

また、書籍本体はほぼ書体見本で占められており、十数ページコラムがある程度です。

使いやすいフォントが充実している、コストパフォーマンスの高い本です。
「セリフ」「サンセリフ」「スクリプト」「ディスプレイ」「その他」と
バランス良く揃っており、これ1冊でまんべんなく揃います。
とはいえデザインの変わった物はなくロゴ、見出しには他のモノを買ってみるのも手です。
この値段でこのクオリティーの本（CD-ROM）が買えるのはとにかく驚きです。
最初のフォント集として間違いなくオススメできます。
