アメリカ心臓協会(AHA)が開発したAdvanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support(ACLS)コースは世界中に広がっており、2003年現在、25カ国でAHA正式コースが開催されています。このコースには、緊急処置を要する心停止に対する治療、不整脈の初期治療、脳梗塞、急性冠症候群の初期治療の内容が含まれています。本書は、AHAのGuidelines 2000 for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Careに基づいて作成していますが、第一線の医療機関でも即座に現実の医療現場でACLSを実践できるように、なるべく単純化し修正が加えられています。必要なモニター心電図の判読ができるように章を設ける工夫もしました。実際に毎日のようにACLSを実践している経験から、机上の知識ではなく十分消化された内容になっています。

ACLSの勉強会に参加する際に自分で勉強する必要を感じて購入しました。全体的に図が多く、説明も簡潔でわかりやすいです。

一通り読むのにあまり時間がかからないので時間がない人でも大丈夫だと思います。ただし個々の処置の必要性やどうしてそのような手順をふむ必要があるのか、また病態論的な説明に関しては詳しくありません。ですので入門書として一通りの手順や流れをつかんだ上でより詳しい本を利用することをお勧めします。
