まず、このコミック版から入った人間のレビューである事をご理解ください。
その為、小説版もしくはアニメ版を先に視聴している方にとっては違う印象をもたれる事もあるかと思います。

｢狼と香辛料｣というタイトルは前々から存じておりましたし、アニメ化された事も知っています。しかし、小説・アニメ共にタッチしておりませんでした。
そんな中、書店で表紙に目がとまり、また、つい数日前に知人から勧められたこともあり、購入に至りました。

　兎にも角にも、ホロの可愛さが前面に出された作品であると思います。
まだたったの1巻。序盤も序盤ですので、物語的にクライマックスが有る訳でもないですし、その逆のどん底がある訳でもありません(山場を迎えそうな気配で1巻は終わっています)。
　中世のとある行商人の良くある生活を描いた物語という感覚です。
　しかしそこにホロという強力なエッセンスが足されていますね。

　この作品の様に複数の媒体(小説・アニメ・漫画)での展開を見せる場合、毎度の様に話題に上がるのはその差異についてですよね。
　私はまだこのコミック版、そして、小説版をつい先日購入し、読み始めたばかりなのですが、なぜ小説版を買ったか、それは勿論、コミック版を読んで興味を持ったからに他なりません。そして、コミック版では気付かなかった表現や、(紙面的に)描けなかったであろう描写・説明を読んで、また新たな面白さに触れているところです。
今後、小説も最新刊まで読み進めて行くつもりですし、余裕があればアニメ版も視聴してみたいと思っています。

表紙の絵柄をみて抵抗のない方になら問題なくお勧めできると思います。
本文の線も細めで淡い色調のトーンが多めに使われてファンタジーの世界観にあった雰囲気が出てると思います。
私はアニメ、コミック、小説の順で作品に触れましたが、絵柄の好み等を取り払って
話の面白さで評価すると、順番は前述の間逆になります。
この作品は台詞や仕草、目線に至るまで、うらに物凄く意味が隠れています。
そしてその駆け引きが面白さの要素の一つだと思います。
知らなくても楽しめますが、知るとより楽しいと思いますので
未読であるなら是非、原作小説のほうもどうぞ。

繊細なペンタッチと
ホロのキャラクターがマッチングしていて
気持ちの良い本です
惜しむらくは
意味不明のコマがあったり
内容が解りにくかったり
読んでいて
時々つっかえるところです

でも
それは原作を読めば解決します
つまり
原作に忠実になるあまり
このような形になってしまったのでしょう

できれば原作をかみ砕いて
コミックならではの
独自の作品世界を築いてほしかった
なので
☆三つです
